This feature is located at the north east corner of the railway; i.e. further along the public walkway from the car park, past the station. The facility was built by ASME in 1989 and consists of a pond of large surface area but only about half a metre deep. A continuous decking surrounds the pond which is fenced for safety reasons. At the east end a shelter is provided and most operations are directed from here.
The pond is used by another like-minded model club, called Scale Marine Modellers Incorporated (SMM) under an arrangement with ASME.
SMM members operate their model boats on the pond on a regular basis. They also operate radio controlled club boats for use by the public on several Sundays each month.
